Simon Atkinson

Simon Atkinson, known in the Capoeira world as Master Fantasma, has been a practitioner and educator of martial arts since 1982. With over 35 years dedicated specifically to Capoeira, he has formed three generations of players, establishing a legacy of discipline, art and community in London.

Simon’s expertise is rooted in authentic Brazilian tradition - he has travelled to Brazil yearly since 1993. He has developed a unique teaching methodology that explores the profound connection between Capoeira and its African-Brazilian dance origins. By integrating these foundational dance elements, Simon returns to the source of why Capoeira emerged in Bahia, offering students a deeper understanding of the rhythm, spirit, and cunning required for the art.
